On November 3, I was elected to the ISD 834 School Board! Even more exciting was the overwhelming support all 5 Teacher Endorsed Candidates received. Alison Sherman and Beverly Petrie will take their seats Nov 19 while Annie Porbeni, Matt Onken and I will all take our seats in January. Thank you for your support!
For the first time in two election cycles, the teachers, paraprofessionals, nurses, counselors, social workers, and custodians decided to endorse candidates. I am honored the SCEA, SCPA, and IUOE have chosen me and I fully support the other four candidates they also endorsed:
Annie Porbeni, Matt Onken, Bev Petrie, and Alison Sherman.
Remember, there are 5 seats open this year.
Stillwater Area Schools are an invaluable asset to our 18 communities. At this historic moment in time, we need visionary leadership to govern appropriately and move our district forward. Let's get to work!
We are in an unprecedented era in education. As a district, we must take full advantage of this moment to reevaluate what is working and what is not; who is being served and who is not. We need leaders who trust the professionals and govern in ways that serve teachers, staff and students first.
Communities who care about their future invest in great schools. That investment must be carefully managed and cultivated to ensure our district remains on stable financial footing for generations to come.
Strong schools have clear expectations for their students, faculty, and leadership. Responsible leaders, governed by thoughtful policy, hold individuals accountable for their actions in ways that allow them to make amends and grow.
